Do Not Forget About the Groom

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

In a wedding society run by the bride, it is sometimes very easy to simply forget that one guy that’s standing next to her. The groom might not seem like an important person at the wedding especially next to the bride, but groomsmen gifts are still the norm at many weddings.

They can be a little difficult to procure and it might actually be the last thing on your mind before you dress up for the fancy wedding. But buying gifts for men is a very important task because even if the groom doesn’t notice you didn?t get him a gift, the bride definitely will. So it might be a good idea to take a closer look at that gift registry and get the groom something specifically not on that list.

It is always a good idea to give the groom something a little bit whimsical that he can actually have a little fun with. Silver cufflinks are a good idea for someone who is graduating from college, but not for a married man. So remember to show up with something that he will appreciate and wait for your thank you card.

Keep or Not to Keep

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

My husband thinks that I am mad but I have kept all of the wedding programs from every wedding that I have been to. I have put them in photograph albums with the photographs that I have taken so that I can look back at it when I want to. I quite often look at them, especially if I have the couple in question around to visit, I get it out and we talk about their special day. I think it means a lot to them to know that I have been thinking about them and that I have kept the things in such good order. I think all couples like to keep their own things from the wedding things like wedding veils and dresses, shoes, cards and other things as they are all easy to store and lovely to look back on. Often people do not keep things for that long or they just put things in the attic and not look at them again. I do not believe in keeping things just for the sake of it but I do like to keep things that I know I will continue to enjoy and look at for years to come.

Wedding decorations

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Sometimes I wonder why people go to so much trouble with all of the wedding decorations and things. I have seen a lot of people have table confetti, wedding favors, balloons and things like that and I actually think that it looks cheaper than not having anything at all. The prettiest wedding that I went to was in a marquee and it was dark outside and the tent was lit with fairy lights. On each table was a beautiful flower arrangement. I am sure that the decorations were not that much more expensive than other weddings, they all had wedding flowers as well but it looked absolutely spectacular. I think because of the way things were lit and the clear vases and the fact that the flowers were such big blooms, made everything look amazing and the tables were just laid with a plain white tablecloth and the cutlery and glasses and needed nothing else. In fact it was partly the simplicity that made it all look so good. I think that it is worth thinking really hard when you are considering how to do your decorations and consider whether less is more could be appropriate for you.
